Holistic approach
It
is paramount for a Wing Chun artist, fighter or teacher to understand
and to be aware of the fundamental objective to each specific issue
in discourse. Quite often, historical stories or rumours are used
to substantiate physiological theories. Historical and cultural
experiences are important in their own way to establish insights
and analysis for assumptions and perceptions. Therefore, it is a
weak theory if an instructor claim, for example superior training
methods or the so called 'real' Wing Chun on the basis his/her linkage
with a historical figure. The perception of Wing Chun must be taken
into a much wider context and address each issue without confusing
it with another. One should take a holistic approach and take into
account of the constructs of physiology, psychology, anatomy, philosophy,
history, culture, updated research and PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE.
